…to the website of St Lawrence the Martyr, the Parish Church for Horsley Hill, South Shields!
You’ll find us along Centenary Avenue (not far from the Nook), where our modern Church of England building (and beautiful garden) is home to a warm and welcoming church family. We try to show Jesus’s love for us in our worship of him and in how we serve alongside our local community and beyond.
It is with regret that “In light of the Government guidance around non-essential contact, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York have issued advice that public worship is suspended until further notice.”
Although St Lawrence’s the building IS closed FOR public WORSHIP, WE ARE AIMING TO BE OPEN FOR PRIVATE PRAYER. PLEASE SEE OUR FACEBOOK PAGE FOR UPDATES. sADLY Fr Paul IS CURRENTLY RECEIVING CHEMOTHERAPY, BUT ON HIS RETURN HE will AIM TO LIVESTREAM WORSHIP VIA FACEBOOK at 10am Wednesdays and 9:30am SunDAYS. WE HAVE ALSO COMPILED A BOOK OF SPIRITUAL RESOURCES FOR USE AT HOME, WHICH CAN BE FOUND HERE.
However, church is so much more than the building – it is each one of us who puts their faith in Jesus. Although we may not physically be together, we are still United as the Body of Christ. So please do continue to pray, to keep in touch via internet or phone, and stay safe at this worrying time.
In normal circumstances we come together to worship on Sundays at 9.30am and Wednesdays at 10am. We also run our Wonderfully Made Messy Church once a month (usually on the 2nd Saturday) – click here for more information! We also meet in the Church Hall occasionally for food, drink and a good natter! Look out for advertised mornings and come along – all are welcome!
